Have you ever had to choose right from wrong, well Bilbo did and he chose right. This all happened when Bilbo met Gollum and they were exchanging riddles. When Bilbo asked Gollum what was in his pocket, but Bilbo refused to tell him. However no matter how much Gollum implored to see what was in his pocket, Bilbo would refuse to show him. If he chose wrong he could have been killed by Gollum, because he would find out he stole his ring. However, he chose right. So when Gollum searched for his ring to kill Bilbo it gave Bilbo a chance to escape. When Gollum came back Bilbo had already escaped and was invisible. Also if he would have stayed there he would have been killed by Gollum who was coming back to kill him. Bilbo made some smart and fast decisions when he was with Gollum which ended up saving his life. Bilbo's choice was between life and death and he chose life. I hope you have never had to choose between life and death like poor old Bilbo Baggins. Bilbo was also pretty brave to stand up to Gollum and not tell him what was in his pocket even though he could die. Personally for me, I would have just ran away once I started hearing him talking to himself. I would be scared half to death if he was plotting to kill me. Also I would never trust an old slimy little creature that was living on a tiny island and had a bad reputation. (This happened on pages 80-94.)

This was a good conflict, and I can see why you thought it moved the story forward. It certainly did. You have done a great job organizing your thoughts. I would suggest that this is a conflict between two characters and not within Bilbo. If the conflict was within himself, he would be the one to make himself die. But it is Gollum who wants to kill him, so this is a character vs. character conflict. I hear your voice in your last sentence!
